Lonesome River Band's store is operated by The Record Table, part of BlueGrass Artist Services, a Limited Liability Company jointly owned by AcuTab Publications and Clear Blue Productions. BlueGrass Artist Services was created to allow artists to offer their recordings and various merchandise directly to consumers, selling from their own inventory, with order processing and fulfillment handled by The Record Table. Each artists' store links from their own web site, with all orders received by The Record Table.
Bluegrass fans have long voiced a preference for making purchases directly from their favorite bands and artists wherever possible, knowing how much the artists appreciate the added income and support. Until recently, this interaction took place primarily at shows, with fans and friends crowding around a band's "record table," where they could make purchases from the players themselves. Though records and LPs have given way to CDs and audio downloads, the name has stuck, and we chose it for our company to drive home the point that making purchases from Lonesome River Band's store is the online equivalent to visiting their table at a festival or concert.
Artists who offer their merchandise through The Record Table, and their fans, can also take advantage of the online community we are building. Knowing that folks who enjoy the music of Lonesome River Band is likely to enjoy that of the other featured artists as well, we expect them all to receive greater exposure - and possibly generate additional sales. As more and more artists offer their wares through our store, consumers will be able to and enjoy the benefits of a single user registration to access such conveniences as gift certificate purchase and redemption, or our gift registry, while purchasing merchandise and audio downloads that directly benefit the artists. |
