Lonesome River Band - The Road With No End (Mountain Home 10992)

The new CD from the reconfigured LRB, featuring Sammy Shelor on banjo and Jeff Parker on mandolin/vocals, with new members Barry Berrier on bass/vocal and Shannon Slaughter on guitar/vocal.

The band returns to the aggressive, "in your face" sound that chacterized their earlier releases, and features perhaps the best harmony blend since the group's inception. Ron Stewart guests on fiddle as does Matt Leadbetter on resophonic guitar.

Product Description

The critics weigh in:

"The Lonesome River Band shows how Contemporary Bluegrass is done. This grouping of Sammy Shelor, Barry Barrier, Shannon Slaughter and Jeff Parker is one strong line-up. Great vocals...great song writing...and of course the fantastic pickin' of some of the very best in the business. The road indeed has no end."

"The latest release from The Lonesome River Band is definitely carrying on the LRB Tradition. I like the way they catch you off guard with She’s No Lady but I also love the great gospel tune Hereafter. There’s a great mix of songs and out of all of them it’s hard to say which is my favorite because they are all good!

"I think the Lonesome River Band's latest is their strongest in a number of years. The band is tough, taut and hard driving--and has selected some excellent material. I was especially enthralled with Prisoner's Lament, Brother to the Blues, A Step Away and, of course, Hillbilly Catfight.

Dave Higgs
host for Bluegrass Breakdown, Nashville Public Radio

"I took my advance copy of the new LRB recording to the Grey Fox Bluegrass Festival recently. I had it playing at my campsite on 'The Hill,' and it drew an instant response from pickers camped nearby; 'Who IS that?!', 'Wow, that's some great pickin'.' When I told them it was the new LRB CD, the general response was, 'That explains it, no wonder it sounds great.' (And lot of 'When is it going to be released?')"

"As I've aired tracks on my radio program, Pickin' & Fiddlin', I always get calls about it. This CD sells itself!"

Congratulations to LRB and to all at Crossroads for creating a bluegrass gem!
